🏆Good Attendance Matters Most🏆
A sincere thank you to all of the parents and carers who are supporting our students in prioritising their attendance each day. This half-term we have enjoyed many attendance wins for the school, including celebrating and recognising our 243 students who have achieved 100% attendance records since the start of the new school year. Year 8 students have achieved 96% attendance for this half-term, meaning that they are our highest performing year group for attendance - well done, Year 8 and Mr Badu! Not too far behind Year 8 is our new Year 7 cohort, who have secured 95% attendance for this half-term. It's brilliant to see our KS3 students in Year 7 and Year 8 enjoying attending school and making the most of the opportunities each day.
With Year 11 Mock Examinations beginning on Monday 3rd November (English), it's crucial that parents and carers are encouraging excellent attendance for our KS4 students as well. Each and every session in school matters and being in school every day will secure your child's success in the future. As well as being in school every day, we ask that there remains a strong focus on punctuality. The school begins at 8:30am each day and we expect students to arrive no later than 8:25am to ensure that they secure their morning registration mark.
I'm looking forward to sharing more attendance success with you all next half-term; we understand how hard our students and parents/carers are working to be here, on time, every day and it is very much appreciated and valued. Our wonderful school community is built on strong foundations of communication and support and should you need to speak with someone in school about your son's attendance and how we can work together to improve this, please do not hesitate to contact me via email l.greatrix@lordswoodboys.co.uk or your son's Head of Year.
Mrs Greatrix, Vice Principal.

🎉 Celebrating Black History Month: Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future 🎉
Every October, we celebrate Black History Month, a time to recognise the incredible contributions, achievements, and rich heritage of Black people throughout history and in our communities today.
This month reminds us of the resilience, creativity, and courage of those who have shaped culture, science, politics, and the fight for equality. It’s a moment to reflect on past struggles, celebrate progress, and be inspired by the leaders continuing to break barriers.
Black History Month is for everyone, an opportunity to learn, listen, support, and reflect. By educating ourselves, amplifying Black voices, and embracing diversity, we help build a future where equality and inclusion are at the heart of all we do.
Let’s celebrate not just this month, but all year round, honouring the past and inspiring the future.

🏗️ STEM Club: The Great Paper Tower Challenge! 🏗️
Yesterday, our Year 8 students had a fantastic time at STEM Club, taking part in The Great Paper Tower Challenge!
"What can you build with just 25 pieces of paper and a metre of tape? Our pupils found out! Teams got busy folding, rolling, twisting, and taping as they raced to build the tallest and strongest tower possible. There were towers that wobbled, towers that toppled, and a few that stood tall and proud! Once the building time was up, the real fun began, whose tower could reach the sky, and whose could hold the most weight before crashing down? The room was full of excitement, laughter, and plenty of cheering. It was an afternoon bursting with creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving, all powered by paper!"
The activity was a brilliant example of creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in action, and the enthusiasm from our students was inspiring.
it was a truly memorable afternoon!

Let’s keep this momentum going as we move into the next half term, keep striving, keep growing, and keep celebrating success! 💪✨
We’re thrilled with the outstanding success of our Year 11 Information Evening, where 89% of parents and carers attended to support their sons in this crucial GCSE year.
The evening provided key updates on Mock Exams in Half Term 2, revision strategies, and the support available to help students achieve their best. We have attached the presentation below for parents.
Our staff were impressed by the strong engagement and partnership between home and school. This collaboration is vital in ensuring every student feels prepared, motivated, and confident for the challenges ahead.
As we move into Half Term 2, the focus turns to Mock Exam preparation, consolidating learning, and developing effective revision habits. With continued teamwork between students, families, and staff, we’re confident Year 11 will rise to the challenge and succeed.
👏 Thank you to all parents and carers for your support — it truly makes a difference. Together, we’re building a successful and inspiring year for our students! 💪✨

🎭 Outstanding Creativity from Year 9 🎭
We’re thrilled to celebrate an exceptional piece of homework from William Donnelly (Year 9.1), who has gone above and beyond expectations in his recent Drama assignment.
The task was to create a set design for a performance, either by building or drawing and annotating it. What William produced was nothing short of outstanding, demonstrating incredible creativity, attention to detail, and dedication.
His design not only showcased artistic flair but also reflected thoughtful understanding of how space, atmosphere, and staging bring a performance to life.
A huge well done, William, your effort and imagination are truly inspiring! 👏 You’ve set the bar high for creative excellence at Lordswood Boys’ School. 🌟

Raising Awareness: Understanding Healthy Relationships 💛
Over the past week, our students have been learning about domestic abuse as part of their wider personal, social, and health education. Through assemblies and Literacy Time activities, the focus has been on recognising the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, exploring the values of respect, trust, communication, and equality in all interactions. Students have also discussed how negative behaviours such as control, isolation, or emotional harm can develop, and most importantly, where to seek help if they or someone they know ever feels unsafe.
On Friday, we were delighted to welcome Sudden Productions to deliver an interactive theatre performance and guided discussion to our Year 9 students. The session explored teen relationship abuse, coercive control, and respect within relationships through a powerful and engaging performance.
A special mention goes to Victory, who volunteered to take part in an interactive scene and delivered a fantastic performance, showing great empathy and maturity when handling sensitive topics.
The afternoon proved to be a memorable and impactful experience for everyone involved. Our students engaged thoughtfully, asked insightful questions, and represented Lordswood Boys’ School with pride.
Well done, Year 9, your respect, awareness, and compassion truly shone through.
