Launching Our White Ribbon Commitment
Launching Our White Ribbon Commitment
We are proud to share that Lordswood Boys’ School has officially been awarded White Ribbon Accreditation. The White Ribbon campaign is a global movement encouraging men and boys to promote respect and help end violence against women and girls. This is a significant milestone for our community and marks the beginning of a plan focused on promoting respect, safety and positive relationships.
This week, we launched our White Ribbon commitment across the school. Rather than a one-off event, this is the start of a long-term cultural journey rooted in our values of Leadership, Belief and Self-discipline. Throughout the day, every class took part in a short session introducing the campaign, supported by a presentation and video, Mr Williams visited each classroom to speak directly with students.
We have shared a letter with parents and carers outlining our aims and the importance of this work. Additional resources are available for anyone who would like to learn more.
This commitment builds on the excellent practice already happening every day at Lordswood Boys’ School in classrooms, corridors and all areas of school life. Our existing safeguarding and pastoral systems remain the same; the White Ribbon initiative strengthens the culture we already strive to uphold.
Thank you to our staff, students, parents and carers for your continued support. Together, we look forward to developing this important work in the months and years ahead.
If you have any questions or reflections, please get in touch. The video that staff and students put together for White Ribbon Day can be seen here.
Wellbeing Updates
From Ms Sandhu, Assistant Principal
A huge thank you to everyone who supported Movember this year. Your kindness and generosity have helped us raise vital awareness for men’s health, including mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
By standing with us, you’ve helped spark important conversations, challenge stigma, and make a positive impact within our school community and beyond.
Together, we’re not just raising awareness, we’re changing lives. 💙👏
Well done everyone!
This term, Year 8 students in STEM Club have been designing and building rubber band–powered cars. They explored how stored energy creates movement 🔧⚙️, tested different designs, and discovered how small adjustments affect speed and distance 📏. The project brought science to life in a fun, hands-on way, finishing with a lively race to see which car could go furthest! 🏁
We are looking forward to next week's STEM day.
Safeguarding Updates
At LBS, bullying is never tolerated. We work hard to instil respect, tolerance and compassion in all our students, and this Anti-Bullying Week has showcased those values in action.
Throughout the week, students stepped out of their comfort zones to share powerful messages on this year’s theme, ‘Power for Good’. It has been inspiring to see our boys speak with confidence, challenge negative behaviour, and encourage one another to be the best version of themselves. 👉 Watch our students’ performance of the Anti-Bullying Week poem here.
In year group assemblies, students reflected on how they can use their influence positively—standing up for what’s right, reporting concerns, and ensuring everyone feels safe. Thank you to our Year 10 Photography students for capturing the week so professionally.
We encourage parents and carers to keep these conversations going at home. Talking about online and real-world interactions can make a crucial difference. Please see the helpful guidance below:

Man City vs. Bayern Leverkusen Trip – A Night to Remember!
On Wednesday night, we took 53 students to the Etihad Stadium to watch Manchester City take on Bayern Leverkusen, and what an experience it was! Even though Man City suffered a 2–0 defeat, the trip was a huge success. Our students were fantastic throughout the evening and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the match.
A huge thank you to Mr Preece, Mr Mitchell and Mr Deeks for accompanying the trip with myself and supporting right through to our late return at 1:00am. Your time and commitment are greatly appreciated. To all staff, apologies in advance for any bleary-eyed students in lessons! Enjoy the photos from the evening, a great memory for everyone involved!
Year 9 Football
The Year 9 team hosted University of Birmingham School yesterday in a league fixture. UOB started the game very brightly and the quality of their team was evident from the start. LBS stood firm and despite going behind, they showed great resilience to stay in the game. Lordswood grew into the game and An Khang hit a 20 yard strike to give the team hope. UOB went on to score again but the boys more than matched the opposition and clearly enjoyed the challenge. Hamza rounded the goalkeeper in the second half and slotted home with a fine finish. Omar was the Player of the Match with a dominant display, his aggression and physicality were outstanding, he played with pride and represented his School fantastically.

Sharing Compassion This Christmas: Kindness in Action
At LBS, we believe in kindness, generosity, and looking out for one another. Compassion is one of our core virtues, and this Christmas, we are putting it into action.
Birmingham faces significant challenges: it is the 7th most deprived local authority in England, with 43% of the population affected, and over half of children under 16 in the city live in poverty in the 10% most deprived areas.
To support children and families in need, our school community is preparing Christmas Hampers. On Thursday 1st December 2025, we will hold a non-uniform day, please bring an item of food or drink to donate. Suitable donations include tinned vegetables, beans, soups, pasta, rice, noodles, cereals, porridge, juice, drinks, pasta sauces, and treats.
Your generosity will help us provide hampers to the most vulnerable families in our school and share with our 12 partner schools across Birmingham. Every contribution, big or small, brings care and hope to those who need it most. Thank you for helping us spread compassion this Christmas.
🎄 The 12 Days of Christmas Are Back at Lordswood Boys’ School! 🎅✨
Spreading joy, kindness and festive cheer from 4th–19th December 2025!
We’re thrilled to announce that our much-loved 12 Days of Christmas celebration is back, bigger, brighter and more festive than ever! For our new Year 7 parents, this is a special Lordswood tradition where we spend the final 12 school days of term spreading joy, kindness, and Christmas spirit throughout our school community.
Each day brings a new surprise, treat or activity for our students to enjoy, that will be revealed on the morning of each day during Literacy Time. It’s one of the happiest moments in the school calendar, filled with laughter, festive generosity and memorable experiences. All will be revealed each day!
Please note there will be a Christmas Jumper day next Friday, but don't worry if students don't have a Christmas jumper they can wear an alternative!
🎉 We can’t wait to celebrate this magical tradition with our students and families.
It’s a time to come together, uplift one another, and end the year with warmth, gratitude and joy.
Keep an eye out for photos and updates as the festivities begin — it’s going to be a wonderful 12 days at Lordswood!
A huge well done to all our pupils for another excellent week of hard work and determination. Your focus, resilience, and willingness to keep improving each day truly make a difference. Remember, every small step you take now shapes the successes you’ll achieve later. “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
