We're extremely proud to report that over 530 students successfully completed Week 1 of our half-term attendance challenge.

All of the students who achieved 100% attendance between 16-22 January were entered into our prize draw on Friday with the chance to win some sweet treats to end the week.

Our Heads of Year handed out almost 250 individual prizes to students today!

A huge well done to everyone who showed great resilience by being in school every day and thank you for attending so well! 😃

Respect in Action: Small Words, Big Impact

This week, our Prefects delivered a powerful message through a student-led video shared in College assemblies, one that reminded us all that respect is not about grand gestures, but about everyday choices.

Through a simple rewind of familiar school moments, in the classroom, the corridor, and the canteen, the video showed how small actions and simple words like “please,” “thank you,” and “sorry” can completely change outcomes. The difference was clear: when respect is missing, tension rises; when respect is shown, relationships strengthen and everyone benefits.

What made this message so impactful was its honesty. The scenarios were real. The language was familiar. And the conclusion was unmistakable: it costs nothing to use manners, but it changes everything.

As the Prefects reminded us, respect is a two-way street. When we give it, we receive it. When we show kindness, we create a school where people feel valued, safe, and ready to learn. True maturity isn’t about how we look or what we say, it’s about how we treat others, especially in the small moments that define our day.

Colleges back in action - Are you ready to represent?

The Colleges are back in action, and the excitement is building as we head into two major College events this half term. This is your opportunity to represent your College, earn valuable points, and be part of the energy and competition that make College life such an important part of our school culture.

First up is an action-packed College Debating event, brand new this year and featuring guest judges. This is your chance to stand behind your point of view, think on your feet, and argue your case all the way to victory. There will be events for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, so make sure you know which debate you are taking part in and come ready to make your voice heard.

Next, we have the always popular 7-a-side College Football Tournament. Expect high-energy matches, competitive football, and plenty of moments to cheer on your teammates. If you are taking part, please remember that this is PE kit only, being prepared means we can get straight into the action and make the most of every minute on the pitch.

Whether you love sport, enjoy competition, or simply want to support your friends and your College, there is something for everyone to get involved in. Full details for both events, including dates, times, and locations, can be found on the posters displayed around school. Make sure you take a moment to check them so you know exactly what’s happening and how you can take part.

We would like to remind parents and students that Year 10 Parents’ Evening will take place on Thursday 29 January, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.

This important event provides a valuable opportunity to:

Review your child’s academic progress and achievements
Discuss strengths and identify areas for improvement
Ask questions and set clear goals for the term ahead
Strengthen the partnership between home and school

GCSE PE Rock Climbing

The GCSE PE students took part in their second rock climbing session on Monday. The session focused on students climbing for the first time while effectively applying the climbing principles learned in their initial session. Students also continued to develop their belaying skills, taking ownership of their peers’ safety and confidently guiding them up the wall. Throughout the session, students demonstrated fantastic maturity, communication, and leadership as they worked closely and supported one another. Next week will be their final session before students rotate into the next activity. We are really looking forward to seeing the marks students can achieve in their rock climbing assessment, which will contribute positively to their overall grade. Keep up the excellent effort and commitment, if students continue to work with the same focus and teamwork, they have a great opportunity to achieve strong results in this unit.

Year 7 Football

Mr Noble's Year 7 team travelled to Shenley Academy on Monday as they faced Shenley, Queensbridge and Wheelers Lane in a 9 A-Side Tournament with results going towards the league campaign. LBS started brightly with a dominant display against the hosts, running out 2-1 winners. We then faced Queensbridge in what was a tight encounter, securing a slim 1-0 victory to take us to six points from a possible six. The final game was against Wheelers Lane who proved to be the toughest test, Wheelers were very good in the final third and took their chances to take the points. LBS moved to the top of the league after the two wins, a fantastic achievement. The team are back in action next week as we host Bournville.

School Production Reminder

Our school production is fast approaching this half term, and we need everyone fully prepared and committed as we head into the final stretch.

It is essential that all students attend rehearsals at the correct times. Every rehearsal counts, and your presence ensures the whole cast and crew can make progress together.

All singers must also take responsibility for learning their vocal parts and lyrics in their own time. Coming to rehearsals prepared will make a huge difference to the quality of the performance and help us create a show we can all be proud of.

Let’s keep the energy high and the dedication strong as we bring this production to life.

Your hard work is shining through. Many of you have been staying on task, in some cases right up until 6pm, to make sure your compositions are completed to a high standard, and it shows.

We’re genuinely impressed by the dedication, creativity, and commitment you’ve brought to your coursework this week. It’s inspiring to see you push yourselves.

As we move toward the finish line, keep believing in what you are creating. Every extra minute of effort, every adjustment and improvement, is helping you reach your potential. Stay motivated, support one another, and keep that momentum going, you are building something to be proud of, and you are well on your way to achieving results that truly reflect your hard work and talent. 🎵👏

🌟 A Special Visit from Composer Paul Clarke!

Today we are delighted to welcome Paul Clarke from Clod Ensemble, London — an acclaimed professional composer whose work spans film, television, theatre, and large‑scale interdisciplinary arts projects. Paul is known for his innovative approach to sound design and composition, often collaborating with directors, choreographers, and visual artists to create immersive musical experiences. His work has featured in national arts festivals, contemporary theatre productions, and broadcast media, making him an inspiring figure for any young musician.

Paul will be spending much of the day in our Music Department, bringing his expertise directly to our students. He will be leading composition workshops for both Year 10 and Year 11 GCSE Music, giving students the chance to explore new creative techniques, develop their ideas, and gain insight into the professional world of composing.

In addition to the workshops, Paul will also be running a student voice activity as part of ongoing music research, giving our students the opportunity to share their experiences, perspectives, and aspirations as young musicians.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our GCSE students to learn from a working composer at the forefront of contemporary music-making. We’re thrilled to have him with us today and can’t wait to see the creativity he inspires.
