The first people to come to Montana came at least 12,600 years ago. Thousands of years later, Native American tribes came including the Crow, The Cheyenne, Blackfeet, and Kalispel, lived in Montana.
Much of land wasn’t explored by others outside the state, until Lewis and William Clark came to see Montana. They both had company by such Native American tribes, such as the Sacagawea, went through the region in 1805 on their famous exploration through the west region. 50 years later, citizens found gold, and since, people are greedy, that attracted many to Montana, soon, the gold had left because too many people were taking the gold.
