Half of Louisiana is covered in forest. 15,000 miles cover the coast of Louisiana in total, making around 7,500 miles covered in forest. From the pine forests in the south to the oak in the north, to the cypress found through the southern swamps, Fifty-eight parishes have lumber factories. Pine profiles for more than 90 percent of Louisiana's lumber industry, much of it used for paper making, like most bark is used. (SAVE TREES PEOPLE!) Kisatchie National Forest is the only national forest in the state. (WE NEED MORE) It extends over 600,000 acres and seven whole parishes.
