Hawaii
Hawaii sits 2,000 miles from California. About 1,500 years ago canoes came ashore to what is now called Hawaii. Hawaii’s people, had rowed 2,000 miles just to get to Hawaii from the Marquesas to get there. People from what is now Tahiti, Over 2,500 miles away, had followed them 500 years after. Those cultures brought cultures and things of their own to Hawaii, such as a popular sport today, surfing, and Hula dancing, and exchanging flower garlands called leis.
