Illinois , Indiana, Michigan and Kansas are amazing states. Each one has its own Native American tribes that lived there, Each has its own separate date of becoming a U.S. State, And each state has its own awesome history. Read this section to learn about some of the history of the Midwest.
Illinois
Illinois
The first native tribes is arrive in Illinois included the Miami and the Illiniwek. The first explorers to arrive there were two French explorers Named Jacques Marquette, and Louis Jolliet. They arrived in 1673. In 1717 Illinois became a French colony, and became a part of Louisiana territory. But after the American Revolution, Illinois became a U.S. Territory, and in 1818 it became the 21st state.
Indiana

A very, very long time ago people lived in a area called Indiana. Around 1614 a French explorer named Samuel de Champlain, one of the first Europeans to see the area. Between 1754 and 1763 French and English warriors fought for control over the land. The English soldiers ended up victorious And got control of the land. It was later named Indiana.
Michigan
Michigan
First people have lived on the land of Michigan for over 12,000 years! Lots of Native American tribes lived there, some were named Kickapoo, Miami, and Ojibwe. Eleven Native American Tribes live there today. France controlled the land from around 1618 to the seventeen hundreds, due to French explorers finding the land. When England defeated France in The French And Indian War, after in 1985 it became U.S. territory.
Kansas
Kansas
People first arrived in Kansas over 12,200 years ago. Scientists know this because they found Bones and early human tools there. Thousands of years later natives arrived. The first explorer, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado went to see the rumored cities of gold(Which didn’t really exist. While doing this he arrived at The area which was later called Kansas.
