Welcome to the plants & animals of New Mexico! My name is Trinity! Nice to meet you (insert name here)! These animals are native to the state, and are all super cool and awesome! They each have their own features and abilities, and are all different in their own unique ways. From felines to canines, sheep to lizards, they are all awesome! And they are all really cute, if you don't think at least ONE is cute you have no soul.
The gray fox has a tan chest and a tan belly, however, sometimes, like in the picture, they have a red scruff and a red belly instead. They can be very savage and feisty to their prey. They hunt deer, rabbits, hare, mice, and in some cases, usually when they have a mate, they hunt other foxes.
Bighorn Sheep are animals known for their huge horns, and climbing up rocky mountains, which makes them great at climbing because of their steep hooves, allowing them to jump great distances. They usually eat grass and a variety of bugs.
Bobcats are black spot speckled cats with black tufts on the top of their ears, with fluffy tan fur. They usually have brown or blue eyes. They are stealthy predators and are great hunters.
Get ready for round 2! Plants!
The prickly pear cactus has prickly pears that can be eaten in a healthy diet. The cactus isn’t too spiky, but you can still get hurt if you touch it. So don’t try to touch it. I don’t want to be responsible.
The sacred bamboo is also in Asia, but we are focusing on the ones in New Mexico. The Sacred Bamboo has green berries that birds love to gobble up, its very healthy for them and is a good source of vitamin for birds. Don’t try it just in case it’s not good for humans..
Beardtongue have a variety of colors and shapes, but one of the most recognized is the red beardtongue. They have many subspecies, there are a lot, so I’m not counting them all.. But some of the colors they come in are blue, light pink, lavender, orange, yellow, and a mixture between green and pink. AND MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY, more.
