Texas has amazing history. Native Americans came to Texas before the Europeans. The Caddo and a lot of other tribes latter moved into Texas. People first came to Texas over 16,700 years ago. Texas left the Union and then rejoined after the Civil war ended in 1870. Texas Joined the United States Of America in 1845. Texas is called Texas because the Caddo tribe greeted the Spanish settlers by saying “Tay-Yas” which means friends in Spanish and the Caddo tribe thought that is sounded like Texas. Frontiersman and politician Davy Crockett Moved to Texas around 1835 and died while fighting in the Alamo . Dwight:D Was born in Texas. Because Texas is so close to New Mexico the Developed a dinner named Tex-Mex Texas became a part of Mexico in 1821. The Texans soon became upset with the Mexican Government. Many people wanted Texas to become a part of the United States.
