Well done to our Year 10 boys who won the Old Colfeians U15 Boys Spring 2022 Tournament
Well done to our Year 10 boys who won the Old Colfeians U15 Boys Spring 2022 Tournament
Rugby at LAB
The last two modules have seen great success across all age groups within rugby. Both our Under 13 girl's and boy's teams won the Respect award at their respective rugby festivals. The demonstration of sportsmanship and resilience from our pupils, when competing against strong opposition, is a credit to those involved and we are extremely proud of them. In addition to this, our U13 boys narrowly missed out on first place, finishing second overall. Our U16 boy's team won each and every game at their festival (winning an enthralling final against Thomas Tallis) and were worthy winners.
Our pupils were a credit to the academy, and they wore their jerseys with pride. A huge 'well done' to all of those involved.
Netball at LAB
Y10 Netball Tournament
Our Y10s travelled to St Thomas More to participate in a netball tournament with local schools. Whilst we experienced two unfortunate losses in the first two games, the girls then began to play some brilliant netball. This led to two wins in games that could have gone either way! The biggest achievement was winning against St Paul’s Academy; having to adapt our tactics to overcome some very tall players! This team has worked immensely hard, consistently showing the resilience and ambition to improve year on year.
Y9 Netball Tournament
Our Y9 girls participated in a netball tournament, hosted by St Thomas More. The girls showed fantastic work in defence, winning many turnovers. The ball was then nicely worked up the court to the shooting circle. However, two last-minute goals in both matches resulted in two very narrow losses. As always, this group demonstrated respect throughout their games and was a credit to the academy.
Y7 vs St Mary Magdalene
This was the very first fixture our year 7 girls have played, and they were incredible! The first quarter, tactically, was a cagey affair, with both teams trying to work out each other's strengths and weaknesses. However, soon after, LAB had the majority of the possession; their intense work rate in both attack and defence resulted in a brilliant win!
Football at LAB
As a sport we are looking to develop, football at LAB has seen the introduction of year 7 and 8 teams. Fixtures against local schools have been well fought, and our pupils have worn their kit with pride. Moving into next year, we will offer our teams regular fixtures against local opposition, and we will enter cup competitions to see how we fare against local, and national, schools.
Clubs and Societies (Summer Term)
We have a well-established clubs and societies timetable, with fantastic engagement from pupils. Moving into the summer term, the sports on offer will change, as we see a transition to 'summer sports' , such as cricket, rounders and athletics. In addition to this, hugely popular clubs (such as Sports Club) will make a resurgence, and we look forward to welcoming each and every pupil to these.
