Our LAB Student Government Representatives
Student Government
It has been a busy term for our Student Government representatives. They have been an invaluable support in our recent evening events, in particular at Year 8 Parents Evening and Year 9 Options Evening.
We have developed three focus groups within Student Government; sustainability, community and international mindedness.
All three of these focus groups have been developing an action plan to start putting their ideas and initiatives into action.
An initiative developed by the Community focus group has been very successful in this module. We are selling second hand uniform in order to raise funds for the Red Cross in support of the Ukrainian refugee crisis. The stand is running during evening events and we have already raised over £200. Thank you to those who have also donated uniform that is no longer in use.
Some of our representatives met with the MP Clive Efford to discuss his role in the local area. Our students asked him a number of thought-provoking questions about his roles and responsibilities. We also discussed the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis and how we are supporting it at LAB with a second hand clothes stand, non-uniform day and selling cupcakes in our restaurant. Some of our Year 9 students shared their Community Projects and Clive gave them some links in the local area such as the Greenwich Homeless shelter.
