Module 4
As we come to the end of Module 4 it is a great time to reflect on the many events that have taken place in the Academy, as well as the outstanding work pupils have produced. Pupils resilience through this time has meant that we are still, on average, above National attendance figures at 91.81%. Thank you for your continued support in this regard.
Pupil Voice
Over the course of this Module, we invited Y10 pupils to apply to be part of the Sancho Student Leadership team; these will act as role models across both the college and the wider academy. This structure includes two Student Principals and four Student Prefects. We are happy to announce that the two Student Principals are Rory M and Areebah B, whilst the four Student Prefects are Millie F, Serra O, Nathan O and Donesa M.
Sancho Acknowledgements
As previously mentioned, attendance is an aspect that is to be celebrated in the college. We have 27 Pupils that have 100% attendance. The tutor groups in each year that have the highest attendance are:
Year 7 = 7E
Year 8 = 8E
Year 9 = 9E
Year 10 = 10B
Over the course of the past two modules, we have had a really pleasing amount of merits awarded to the pupils within Sancho. There have been some exceptional amounts awarded to pupils within this time frame and we would like to celebrate them below:
Pupils awarded the most merits in Module 3 and 4:
7B = Sriya
7E = Nyashanti

Sancho College Team
You may be aware that the Sancho college team has expanded slightly and we have welcomed some new and returning staff.
Ms Jamal-Wensah joined us in Module 3 as a Student Services Manager (SSM), as well as Ms Ford returning to the same role at the end of Module 4.
In my previous letter I outlined our current focus on uniform and equipment, so this is a great time for us to refresh this and start the next Module achieving the high expectations that are outlined on the Academy website.
Student Principal Statements
"I am honoured to have been elected one of the Student Principals of Sancho college, as I have worked hard to improve my character and my attitude to learning over the last four years at LAB. I recognise I have come a long way thanks to the support of staff and students and now I proudly represent the school in open evenings and other events in and out of school. In my new role I will be able to help the student body and be proactive in my college areas as I already help with extracurricular activities and looking after equipment used by the school.
I believe I have had plenty of opportunities to show my leadership skills and how I can organise a big group of people in my time at LAB. This will be helpful when organising a duty rota and when ensuring prefects are carrying out their duties. I will also help out with the student panel selection for future prefects and student principals, as I can see the good qualities of people and I can identify those showing the LAB values due to having put a lot of effort into living by these values on a daily basis myself.
One of the challenges I think I will face is public speaking and I am looking forward to developing in this area as I lead on assemblies for students or talk to parents during school events. As a student principal, I want to be recognised as a person who can share other students' thoughts and get their points across, as many people don’t have the same opportunity to share their voice and share their own opinion. I also want to be recognised as the person that anyone can come to speak to, especially when going through a rough time or when they need someone to share their thoughts with; this is due to the fact that I feel passionate about ensuring no one goes through a rough time without support, so I would like to be that support when they need to get their feelings off their chest and help them get the help they need."
Rory McLeod
Sancho Student Principal
"I was really excited to apply for Student Principal because there were many opportunities to uphold while carrying out this role. Preparing for the interview was a little nerve-racking, but I just said what was on my mind and answered the questions truthfully, as asked to. Being informed that I was going to be one of the Student Principals was definitely a shock, but I was very happy that the school considered me fit for the role. Helping out with events, sharing mine and other people's thoughts and ideas, undertaking duties, is a great way to get to know the school better and to be able to make a change within the LAB community, along with the other Prefects and Student Principals."

Sancho Celebratory Breakfast
An important part of the college celebrating pupils' achievements in showing the LAB values consistently without prompt, are our celebration breakfasts. This is an opportunity to reward pupils, but also for staff and pupils to talk about their enthusiasm for various topics. In Module 4, we invited George R, Margki K, Lily-Fleur R, Elliot B, Sriya P and Pratik L, who enjoyed breakfast along with Ms White and Ms Evans.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers for their support over the past two Modules and I look forward to working with you all into the next Module (which has a return date of Tuesday 19/04/22). We hope you have an enjoyable Easter break.
Mr Ritchie & the Sancho college team.
