COVID-19/Coronavirus Update 3/27: The Langan School at The Center for Disability Services is continuously monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation and is closed as of now through April 15th; however, this is the middle of spring vacation so students would return to school on April 20th. All decisions are being made in conjunction with The Center’s Executive Management team and The Pandemic Task Force. We will continue to monitor and follow guidance from local, state and federal agencies. We understand that this is an inconvenience for our families, but our primary concern is the health and safety of our students and staff.

COVID-19/Coronavirus Information and Resources

The Langan School places a high priority on the health and safety of our students and staff members. With that in mind, we wanted to reach out to you with some basic information regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

We would like to assure you that The Langan School is closely monitoring the situation and following the guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), and the New York State Education Department.

Our operations and maintenance staff members continue to be diligent in the cleaning and disinfecting all high-touch and high-traffic areas throughout our school.

The New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommend the following ways to minimize the spread of all respiratory viruses:

-Wash your hands regularly with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds to eliminate any potential bacteria. Utilize hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.

-Keep unwashed hands away from regularly touching your eyes, nose or mouth. This activity will decrease spreading germs or bacteria within your body.

-If you or your child shows symptoms of respiratory illness, please stay home from work and/or have your child stay home from school.

-Be aware of your surroundings. Be mindful of where your hands may have touched in a public space.

-Clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces.

We urge you to keep up-to-date with the CDC and NYSDOH. The links for these trustworthy sources are provided below for you to remain informed. Many school districts across the state are providing information to their communities regarding preventative actions related to the virus. We will continue to keep you updated as information becomes available to us.
