Our Education Model

Our classrooms utilize the RAAVE and MOVE educational models and reflect a 8:1:4 or 12:1: 6 student to staff ratio accordingly. The cornerstone of our educational curriculum is the common core standards based aligned Unique Learning System and New-2-You Curricula. Students are provided differentiated instruction across the Common Core subjects of ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies. Additionally, direct instruction is provided in Interpersonal, ADL and Prevocational skills. Generalization, Communication and Motor Skill Training are integrated in the educational program. Ultimately the primary goals and valued outcomes we desire for our graduates include Independence, Community Inclusion and Self-Determination.

What Districts Have Said About Us!

"I just want to take a moment to tell you how happy I am with the services Chatham students are receiving at Langan.  Yesterday we held the CSE meetings for our four students.  I never failed to be impressed with the knowledge of your staff and their commitment to the students and their families.  Only coming up twice a year I also get a great picture of the progress the students are making across all areas.  Each time I leave I am extremely confident that they are all in very good hands."  (Brian Simon  ~ Chatham Central School District)

What Our Graduates Say About our School!

Daniel, the 2017 Kevin G Langan Award Recipient surprised everyone at graduationwhen he delivered this heartfelt speech...

I started at the Center in Megan Risko’s classroom (E5).

From there I moved from Megan Riskos room to Secondary 4 with Vera.

From Secondary 4, I moved to Secondary 6 with Erin.

So, Erin, I have been in your class for 4 years.

I remember when I first started.

I’ve had a fun time in your classroom and have lots of memories.

You always had silly hats for the holidays.

I liked gardening with you and how you planned cool fieldtrips to the museum and the golf tournaments.

You always liked it when I did deliveries for you.

You have always trusted me to get my work done and to get back on time.

Thank You also to Sue Cooper for giving me a badge to get through the door so I could get my deliveries done and   to sometimes sneak candy in your office. Thank you for helping me to gain my independence.

I will come back and visit. I will always miss you and think of you.

I also want to thank Kevin and Blair for all of your hard work in helping me find the right program for after graduation.

I will be working at 700 South Pearl Street in the adult program.
