File Action: Edit Properties
This view lets you edit the name and content of all Mapping Files
Edit Content:
Since these can be large the application limits the size of the file you can edit directly in the application. Files with more than 5000 rows (filters can get very large) need to be edited outside of the app and then reimported. Unless you create a filter to edit this mapping file or use the Change Scope feature.
Change Scope
The Change Scope feature will allow you to change the variables in a Filter, or Mapping File, function. Clicking the column headings displays an edit form to type in the new variable name the filter will be applied.
Edit name:
Change the name of the mapping file, if you don't like the name of an auto-generated mapping file then you can change it here.
Easy To Delete:
If you check this option the application will let you delete Mapping Files that process pipelines depend on. This is a BAD thing so the default setting is Hard to Delete aka Not Easy To Delete.
Edit Tags:
Tags help speed up search and restrict the view to display only those files that have one or all of the tags selected. Click the mouse where the cursor is shown on the line containing the tags and type a new tag. Hit return to create the tag.
The application adds 'hidden' tags, if you are running lots of pipelines that process the data using @MASK functions then each time they run they produce a reverse lookup table to undo any changes. These can clog up the Mapping File view and make it hard to find a specific file. To get round this the app has two auto generated tag 'system" and 'user'. Any mapping file produced by a pipeline is given a tag 'system', similarly any mapping file generated by the user clicking a button is given a tag 'user'. Selecting one of these tags will hide the others from the view.
