How to Filter/Map Data?

To apply different filters and mapping files to a static data file expand the actions menu on a static data file and press the button that looks like a funnel.

This will display the Apply Mapping File functions page. This page features a series of drop down menus for each type of Mapping file that can be applied. The full list of these types and what they do is listed here.

Make Map and Make Filter Buttons

The mapping files displayed are all those that *can* be applied to this static data set. Users can select as many of these as required. When you press save a copy of this static data file is made that has the selected Mapping files applied. The application adds the date + time to the original file name to make it easier to discover,

If no mapping files are selected and you just press save then a duplicate of the file is created. This file has the suffix "Duplicate".

Complex Filtering

This functionality also lets you create new Maps and Filters using a filtered version of the Static Data File. Clicking either the Map Map or Make Filter buttons will display new forms that allow you to select which variables to use to create a new map or which to select to create a new filter. These are useful features because if you have list of items with multiple features you can create a filter that follows this logic: Get List of X when Y={A} & Z={B} etc.

For maps this feature creates a list of pairs given a condition: Get List of {X,Y} when Z={B}.

These files are then saved as a new Filter type mapping file or a Map type mapping file.
