Baker-Butler where... Together we learn, Together we belong.
November 20, 2025
This is a weekly publication for Baker-Butler families. Each week's edition is published on the Home page. Previous editions are linked and titled by date.
Dear Baker-Butler Bear Families,
As we get closer to the Thanksgiving break, we want to express our sincere gratitude for your partnership and support. Working together with you—celebrating successes, navigating challenges, and supporting your children as they learn and grow—makes our school community stronger every day.
Thank you for all you do to help your child come to school ready to learn, to contribute to our positive school culture, and to embrace our values of belonging, kindness, and curiosity. We are truly grateful for the trust you place in us and the joy your children bring to Baker-Butler.
We wish you and your family a happy and restful Thanksgiving holiday. May the break be full of good food, special moments, and plenty of time together.
The school building will be closed from November 26th to 30th. The next edition of the Bear Bulletin will be published on December 4th.
Bear-y truly yours,
Nancy McCullen, Principal
Tonya Carter, Assistant Principal
Shay Carter-Shifflett, Assistant Principal
Last chance to collect lost items.
This is a friendly reminder that any items remaining in the lost and found will be donated to local charities over the Thanksgiving Break. We will put the racks in the hallways on Monday and Tuesday. As classes go by after lunch, students will be encouraged to take anything that belongs to them.
The lost and found is located between the entrance doors near the cafeteria. If you'd like to look during the school day, please bring your ID and check in through the main entrance.
Introducing Our Visiting Police Officer
We are pleased to share that Officer Hamblin from the Albemarle County Police Department will be visiting Baker-Butler periodically throughout the school year. These visits are part of our ongoing effort to build positive relationships between students and the community members who help keep us safe.
Officer Hamblin will stop by at various times to greet students, visit classrooms, and be a friendly, familiar face in our building. These informal visits help our students see police officers as trusted adults who care about their well-being and our school community.
We look forward to welcoming Officer Hamblin as a supportive partner in helping Baker-Butler continue to be a safe, caring place where every child feels they belong.
The project was created by our Purple Up Committee.
This flag has been created in honor of the veterans connected to our Baker-Butler community—beloved family members of our students and staff who serve or have served our country with courage, commitment, and sacrifice.
Each star is a reminder of the strength, service, and dedication that protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. We are grateful for these individuals and for the families who shared their stories with us.
Thank you to all who serve or have served, and to those who support them. We are proud to honor our veterans and to teach our students the importance of gratitude, respect, and remembrance.
