Baker-Butler where... Together we learn, Together we belong.
February 2, 2026
This is a weekly publication for Baker-Butler families. Each week's edition is published on the Home page. Previous editions are linked and titled by date.
We have missed your children and can't wait for them to return to school tomorrow!
A path has been cleared on all sidewalks in front of the school and between the 5th grade pod and the school building. We ask that no one walk on snow or ice covered ground. Please reinforce this expectation with your children. Everyone should stay on cleared sections and avoid the snow and ice piles as they come and go from the school building.
The sidewalk from Profitt Road to the school has not been cleared. Anyone who typically walks that way will want to make alternate arrangements.
If you are planning to drop off and pick up in the car loop, please be very patient and expect delays. While our custodians, ACPS groundskeeping crew, and Parks & Recreation have done a tremendous job of clearing sidewalks and the roadway, we will have to make some adjustments to our daily operations.
Car drop off/pick up lanes are clear but narrow, please drive even more carefully than you usually do. The same is true for the car loop sidewalk. The path is narrow in some places. We will all take our time helping to unload cars and guide students safely inside. Please be patient. Arrival and dismissal will likely take longer than usual.
Many areas of the schools grounds are still covered with snow and ice. This includes the playgrounds and track. Cones and caution tape will be used as signals to indicate that these areas are closed and dangerous. Due to the status of school grounds, all outdoor activities will be prohibited until further notice. Teachers will provide indoor recess options.
Thank you for your support. Fortunately, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning. Hopefully an early spring is on the horizon!
Important Note: Please ensure there are no glass containers included in your donations
"Soup-er Bowl" Food Drive 🏈
There will be 4 boxes with the 4 NFL playoff teams at the front of the school for students to put their donations in. We’ll end our drive on Wednesday, 2/11 and announce the team who had the most donations that week.
Classes will not be assigned to any specific team; it is up to students to decide which team they want to put their donations in.
Please see the attached flyer with Loaves and Fishes donation wish list of non-perishable items to donate.
This flyer will be sent home with your student as well.
Go team!
The food drive is organized by Baker-Butler's Student Activities Committee.
