Baker-Butler where... Together we learn, Together we belong.
October 23, 2025
This is a weekly publication for Baker-Butler families. Each week's edition is published on the Home page. Previous editions are linked and titled by date.
First Quarter Report Cards will be open for viewing on Monday, October 27th, at 4:30 PM. To view your student's report card, you need a Parent Portal Account. If you haven't set up your account yet, you can contact the office at (434) 974-7777 to get the Access Key you need.
Each quarter, teachers enter scores for taught and assessed skills in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Math, and Physical Education (PE). If a skill was not taught and assessed in a quarter, NA will be entered. There is a key that indicates what the 3, 2, 1 scores mean. Classroom teacher comments for the first quarter include an overview of the specific content reflected in the score. Individualized comments will be limited, as they were provided during conferences. PE teachers enter comments every quarter.
Art and Music report cards are done in the second and fourth quarters only.
Two resources that may be helpful are:
The PowerSchool Parent Portal Guide
Accessing the Report Card in the Parent Portal (Please note you will not be able to view the Report Card until the viewing window opens on Monday evening. )
Acceso a la boleta de calificaciones en el portal para padres
الوصول إلى كشف الدرجات في بوابة أولياء الأمور
If you requested a printed copy of the report card when you registered your student or updated their registration form, it wil be sent home early in the week.
Book Character Parade - Next Week!
To celebrate our shared love of reading, we will be holding the annual Book Character Parade on Friday, October 31st. Students are invited to come to school dressed as their favorite book character! Costumes should be based on a character from a book that your child enjoys and is appropriate for school. Some props and your student’s designated book are permitted but masks, weapons, and scary costumes must stay home. We are not able host families to attend this event. Classes will parade out on the track so students can admire each other's creativity and celebrate the joy of reading together!
Our Lost and Found collection is continuing to grow with many more jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, and lunch boxes that have lost their way! If your child is missing an item, please stop by the Lost and Found area (located just outside the cafeteria) before or after school—or remind your student to take a quick look during lunchtime.
To help us return items quickly:
Label all belongings with your child’s first and last name.
Check regularly—items not claimed by Thanksgiving Break will be donated to a local charity that supports families in need.
Encourage your child to take a minute each day to gather their things before leaving the cafeteria, playground, or classroom.
Thank you for helping us keep our Lost and Found under control and our Bears reunited with their gear!
