It is New Teacher Week in ACPS and our school. One of the greatest joys of a new school year is the opportunity to welcome new educators into our school family. This year, we are excited to introduce a group of talented, passionate teachers who bring fresh ideas, diverse experiences, and a deep commitment to helping every child thrive. Each new teacher has already expressed their enthusiasm for joining our community, and they are eager to get to know our students and families.
Please join me in extending a warm welcome to our new teachers—you’ll see their energy and passion shining in classrooms and hallways very soon!

Baker-Butler Playground and Trails Open to the Public
Baker-Butler sits on 55 acres, much of it wooded. The trails along and through the woods make Baker-Butler a special place to visit. The trails and playground are open to the public when the school is not open for our students. We hope your family and neighbors enjoy these Albemarle County amenities. See the flyer below from the Commonwealth of Virginia about Commonwealth Play Day on August 9th. Since our trails and playground are free and fun for all, consider spending time as a family walking the trails or playing on the playground on the 9th.
We have seen many walkers on the trails throughout the summer. During the school year, trails and playgrounds are reserved for school use and closed to the public on school days between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM. Also, the trails and playgrounds are closed after dark every day. Please help spread the word to friends and neighbors that school begins on August 13th.

Wednesday, August 6th - 5:00-5:30 pm - Welcome Gathering and Popsicles for Preschool and Kindergarten students and their families - Meet at the front of the school.
Wednesday, August 6th - 5:30-6:30 pm - 1st-5th grade students and families - Join us on the playground for popsicles and play with the Principal and Assistant Principals.
Friday, August 8th - Parent Portal opens with classroom teacher assignments as well as bus information available.
Monday, August 11th - Open House
Last names A - G from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm
Last names H - P from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm
Last names Q - Z from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm
Wednesday, August 13th - First Day of School
Student arrival is between 7:45 am and 7:55 am
