Tea Area Legacy Elementary Student Council.
Purpose
To promote and encourage activities for the best interest of the school
To develop good citizens and leaders through experience in government and community service
To provide a means for student expressions, and
To encourage student involvement
The Process for Student Participation shall be:
All students in the upper three grade levels shall have the opportunity to run, vote and offer ideas to the Student Council. Officers will be elected within the student council (President, Vice President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer).
The principal of Tea Area Legacy Elementary, Dr. Walder, shall be the final authority over all actions of the Student Council.
An Information Meeting will be held with all students in the upper three grade levels during the school day each year. During the meeting, students will be informed of the standards for membership on the Student Council as a classroom representative.
The Requirements for Participation
Any student who wishes to be a member of the Student Council shall:
Have all homework and classwork completed and on time.
Have the ability to work well with others.
Maintain high attendance at school.
Serve as role models of entire school
Election Process
Election of Student Council representatives shall take place in the Fall each school year.
Campaigning guidelines for Student Council Representatives:
Written speeches must first be turned in to classroom teacher. The speeches will be given during class on Election Day. Speeches must be appropriate and must not make unrealistic promises. Students will vote on ballots and teacher will tally votes.
Candidates may not have flyers, buttons or extra posters. The candidates are not permitted to promise things that cost money or give out candy, gum, cupcakes, etc.
Students overall character and citizenship should be the driving force of the candidacy.
Campaigning should not be discussed during the school day if possible.
Meetings
Student Council will meet once a month
Each classroom representative will be required to sign the Student Council Contract that clearly states rules and expectations.
If a representative receives more than 2 office referrals or has poor attendance to meetings, he/she will lose their position as a council member.
Student Council helped collect winter clothing items throughout the week to give back to those in need. Way to go Legacy!

We Are GOLD Titans!!!
Student Council helped with some lunchroom art work where every student at Legacy decorated their own Titan T to make up the word GOLD!

The Legacy Student Council is selling shirts to commemorate the 2020-21 School Year!
- Shirts will be available to purchase on the online store!
- Adult and Child sizes available
- Navy Blue with White lettering
- Online store is open NOW through March 16th at noon!
All proceeds from the shirt sales will support Legacy Student Council Projects such as the Christmas Cookie Decorating School wide activity, awards for Book Battles, Campus Beautification/ Tree Planting, Testing Treats for grades 3-5, and other student-focused and student-led activities throughout the school year.
