NEVER go anywhere with somebody that you don’t know or don’t trust. Stay well away from stranger’s cars.
NEVER take anything from a stranger even if it is something personal that belongs to you.
NEVER talk to strangers even if they know your name. If they try to start a conversation with you it’s okay to just ignore them and not look at them. Keep walking or run away if you feel scared.
ALWAYS stay with a friend or a group of friends if at all possible. There is safety in numbers!
ALWAYS follow rules about places that you are not allowed to go. Make sure somebody knows where you are going and when you will be back.
Week of April 26
This week in GOLD, students learned about the connection between school and career and discovered stereotypes that affect the world around us.
Week of April 12
Students rotated to 6 different centers where they we able to practice a variety of different stress relieving strategies.
Week of March 29
Students learned the importance of having perseverance. They talked about the different ways we can persevere through things that are challenging (sports, school work, working out, chores, making friends, etc.)

Students will rotate to 5 centers that will have a different strategy to use when taking a test

Students watched a video that talked about the importance of being ourselves and not changing who we are just to 'fit in'.
Week of February 8
Students listened to the third story of our series on bullying. The story showed a better understanding as to why some kids bully others at school. Maybe they were bullied before, are being bullied at home or maybe they are struggling making friends. The story offers advice to bullies on what they can do to change their behavior for the better.
Week of January 25
Students listened to this story and found out what it is like to be the bystander who used to be bully but is now scared to help others in fear of being bullied again.
Week of January 11
Students started a 3 book series on the topic of bullying. They already know there are three parts of a bully situation and this week they saw what it might look like to be the target.
Week of Dec 7
Students decorated holiday lights and wrote an example of something they can do that is kind for others!
Week of Nov 30
Students participated in a video game show where they had to answer questions to earn points. The game show gave them questions on personal safety, body safety, stranger danger and outdoor safety.
Week of Nov 16
Students participated in a mindfulness exercise which encouraged them to think of things they are grateful for. They spent the rest of GOLD class making Grateful Gobblers!

Students shared what makes them angry and were given 10 ways to handle their anger when it comes to conflict situations with friends.

Students talked and learned about what it means to make positive, healthy choices.
Week of October 19
Students listened to a short story called Triangles are not Bad! that talked about how we need to appreciate our differences and that when we all come together we can have some pretty cool ideas!
Week of October 13
Students learned about Fairness. When we start to think something is not fair, STOP! "Think about what yo ucan do or what you get to do that might make someone else feel life is unfair"
Week of October 5
A video called "How to Lose When You Play to Win" showed students a variety of situations on how to handle themselves when they do not win.
Students talked about the Power of One and how it only takes one person to make a difference in someone else's life.
Week of September 21
With Homecoming coming up, students talked about the importance of teamwork and how it can be practiced not only on the basketball court, but at school, home and with friends.
Week of September 14
Students learned about the trail of data we can leave behind when we post, like, comment, send, etc. on a variety of social platforms. They learned the importance of being kind and doing the right thing not only in person, but online as well.
Week of September 8
Students listened to the story "Mr. Peabody's Apples". We talked about the importance not spreading rumors as well as thinking about our actions and consequences that may follow when making poor choices.
Week of August 31
Fourth graders this week talked about the power of kindness! We read a story called "One Smile" that talked about how a simple smile can completely change a person's day. Students had to think of different ways they could be kind to three people in their life.
Week of August 24 ~
Fourth graders reviewed the Zones of Regulation that was taught to them in 3rd grade! We talked about each zone and what emotions go into each of them. Students also learned a variety of ways to calm themselves (or get back to Green!) when they are facing challenging emotions. These students also got to explore the GOLD class and check out the 'Chill Out Zone!'

All students in GOLD this week talked about all of our positive characters that are still there even though we are hidden behind our masks at school!
