Week of May 10
Students learned about strangers in GOLD class this week. We talked about different ways to stay safe this summer when playing outside, at the pool or park.

This week in GOLD, students learned about a variety of different jobs there are in a community to make it run smoothly!
Week of April 12
Students learned the importance of being trustworthy. We talked about different people in our lives that we trust and consequences that may happen if we do not tell the truth.
Week of March 29
Students talked about fairness and were able to talk about different ways we can show fairness at school, home, sports and friends!

Students explored a variety of ways we can show responsibility at home, school, friends and with our actions/behaviors.
Week of February 26
Students listened to "It's a Wonderful World" and identified all the different things in our world that makes it beautiful and wonderful! They then, made a classroom kindness quilt filled with all the wonderful things in their world!

Students watched a video that showed a vareity of examples of things that may make people angry. They also learned some tools they can use for when they become angry.
Week of January 18
Students watched a video on caring. They saw what it truly means to care about someone. We also talked about what it means to show empathy.
Week of December 14
Students learned the three parts of a bully situation: bully, target and bystander. They listened to a story that showed the importance of standing up for each other!

Students decorated holiday lights and wrote an example of something they can do that is kind for others!

Students watched a video called: "It's Your Body, You're In Charge! We talked about 'going with your gut instincts' adn to make sure we have adults in our live we can trust.

Students listened to The Thankful Book and we given the opportunity to share and color different things and people they are thankful for.

Students learned the difference between a mean tease and a nice tease! Also, what may be a nice tease to someone, might be a mean tease to someone else.

Students watched a video that showed what respect looks like and how it feels when we are disrespectful to our friends, teachers and parents.

Students talked and learned about what it means to make positive, healthy choices.

Students learned how to differentiate between what is appropriate to say and what should be kept to themselves.
Week of October 13
Students explored a variety of different things that may or more may not take courage. We learned what it means to be courageous and that what might take courage for someone might not take courage for someone else.
Week of October 5
Personal space is always a good topic to talk about, but now more than ever! Students listened to a silly story on personal space where they learned how to give others space in a variety of situations.

Students learned different examples on how to be fair with their friends, school and at home!
Week of September 21
Students read a story called Armadillo Tattletale that talked about the importance of not telling lies, but to also know the difference between tattling and telling!
Week of September 14
Students reviewed the Cyber 5 Rules of internet safety. They listened to a story that talked about the importance of asking a grown up for help when using the internet.

Students listen to a story about how to control our need to blurt out not only during school but at home and with friends!
Week of August 31
This story showed students some silly consequences that can happen if we don't listen carefully! ....but we also talked about some serious consequences that can happen in school and at home.
Week of August 24 ~
First graders reviewed the Zones of Regulation that was taught to them in Kindergarten! We talked about each zone and what emotions go into each of them. Students also learned different ways to calm themselves (or get back to Green!) when they are facing challenging emotions.

All students in GOLD this week talked about all of our positive characters that are still there even though we are hidden behind our masks at school!
