NEVER go anywhere with somebody that you don’t know or don’t trust. Stay well away from stranger’s cars.
NEVER take anything from a stranger even if it is something personal that belongs to you.
NEVER talk to strangers even if they know your name. If they try to start a conversation with you it’s okay to just ignore them and not look at them. Keep walking or run away if you feel scared.
ALWAYS stay with a friend or a group of friends if at all possible. There is safety in numbers!
ALWAYS follow rules about places that you are not allowed to go. Make sure somebody knows where you are going and when you will be back.
Week of May 3
We continued our discussion on careers where students participated in a classroom game show that contained a variety of questions about the 16 career clusters.
Week of April 19
Students learned about some different options they have when they graduate high school! They also took an interest survey that helped match them to a career cluster they might be interested in!
Week of April 5
Students watched a video that showed what it might look like to a person being bullied at school. (i.e. not wanting to come to school, low self-esteem, red/blue zone emotions, etc. The video gave practical advice and strategies on what to do if you are getting bullied.
Week of March 22
Students completed their final section in their Life Skills unit. They learned a variety of refusal techniques that they can use when they are in a new and/or difficult situation. that they want to get out of.
Week of February 22
Students continued with their Life Skills packet on the topic of social skills. They learned a variety of ways to be a friend, keep friends and make new friends!
Week of February 8
Students continued their Life Skills unite on the next section of communication skills. They learned the importance of telling others how you feel, how to read others' body language, and different strategies on how to communicate feelings.
Week of January 25
We continued our discussion on stress where students learned that we can become stress when we have a lot of stuff going on: soccer, piano, spelling tests, math tests, friends, family, etc. etc. Even exciting things can cause stress! Ask your child what RELAX stands for and how we can stress less!
Week of January 11
Students continued their Life Skills lessons on the topic of stress. They explored what their body does when they get stressed and different things they can do to help cope.

Students decorated holiday lights and wrote an example of something they can do that is kind for others!
Week of Nov 30
Students were provided class time to go through a variety of situations where they had to decide if it was something they should tell an adult or if it was okay to keep to themself.

Students completed a variety of activities which helped them focus on all the things they are grateful for.

Lesson 3 in their Life Skills training: Students learned the harmful effects of smoking along with reasons to not smoke.
Week of Nov 2
Students continued their Life Skills lessons and focused on lesson 2 of decision making. We explored a variety of situations where they had to Stop, Think and Choose the best option!
Week of October 26
Students talked and learned about what it means to make positive, healthy choices.
Week of October 19
Students started an 8 week Life Skills series where they focused on their first topic of self-esteem. They explored a variety of things they are already good at and others where they need to improve or keep practicing!
Week of October 5 and October 13
Students watched a DVD that taught them different strategies on how to get homework done and how to not stress about it.
Week of September 26
Students learned about empathy by imagining themselves in 'someone else's shoes'. They explored different ways they can show someone they care by showing empathy towards friends, parents, teachers, school and self.
Week of September 21
With Homecoming coming up, students talked about the importance of teamwork and how it can be practiced not only on the basketball court, but at school, home and with friends.
Week of September 14
Students learned about the trail of data we can leave behind when we post, like, comment, send, etc. on a variety of social platforms. They learned the importance of being kind and doing the right thing not only in person, but online as well.

Students participated in a variety of listening activities where they learned the importance of paying attention to the teacher and following directions (even when they seem silly!)

Third graders went through a variety of situations where they had to decide if it is something they should THINK or something that is okay to SAY!
Week of August 24 ~
Third graders reviewed the Zones of Regulation that was taught to them in 2nd grade! We talked about each zone and what emotions go into each of them. Students also learned a variety of ways to calm themselves (or get back to Green!) when they are facing challenging emotions. These students also got to explore the GOLD class and check out the 'Chill Out Zone!'
First week of school!
All students in GOLD this week talked about all of our positive characteristics that are still there even though we are hidden behind our masks at school!
