Jorge Galvan

Responsibilities:

Hello Falcon Family!  I am excited to be serving as the Assistant Principal over Student Management and Accountability at Rubidoux High School this school year.  I am entering my 25th year in education and have served in many roles during that time.  I graduated college in 1998 from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, where I earned my degree in Government with a Concentration in Latin- American Studies.  Upon graduating, I started my career as a social science teacher and football and soccer coach at my alma mater Damien High School in the city of La Verne, CA.  During that time, I also got my introduction to administration while serving as Dean of Discipline at Damien for 3 years.  I earned my Master’s of Education from the University of La Verne in 2003 and after that I spent 10 years as a Social Science, ELA and Spanish teacher at the various schools I worked at (i.e., Damien High School in La Verne, Workman HS in La Puente, Fremont Middle School in Pomona & El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera). During those years as a classroom teacher, I continued to coach Football and Soccer and while at El Rancho High School, I was the head varsity coach for the girls’ soccer team.  In 2008, I began working in the Pomona Unified School district in various administrative roles for the next 11 years.  I worked at Ganesha High School in PUSD and served as the Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and held various Assistant Principal roles (i.e., AP of Student Management and Accountability, AP of Student Services, & AP of Curriculum and Instruction) during my time there.  2019 brought me to Jurupa Unified School District where I have been working the last 3 years.  I started my work in JUSD at Jurupa Valley High School where I served as the Assistant Principal over Student Services for two years.  This past year I had the privilege of serving as Principal of Nueva Vista High School.  While working in JUSD, I have enjoyed my time working with our teachers to support student learning and working closely with our students and families as well. Through education dreams are realized and lives are changed for the better.  I know this to be true through my own life experiences and that of my family.  There is nothing more important in the life of a young person than then the investment of time and energy in their education and future.  As parents, my wife, Irene, and I stress the importance of education to our 7-year-old son, Jorge Santino (aka Santi) every day and support him with his education daily.  While at Rubidoux, I will support our students in growing to appreciate and understand the power of their education and the opportunity that lies before them. I will help to provide direction, guidance and offer support when help is needed. Our student’s safety, well-being and success are my top priorities.  I am proud to be an educator and thrilled to be part of the Rubidoux Falcon Family this school year.
