Oh my sweet Hazel,
At night, you cry,
You demand my attention all of the time;
You take up my bed
And eat all my food,
And yet still, I love you.
Your purple collar and its silver bell;
I can hear your footsteps with every cell.
Your black-brown blanket and each green eye,
Brings me comfort, even when I cry.
I feel your warmth, when you lay on my lap,
It brings me comfort, when I am ready to nap.
When I am down, you somehow know,
And how you yell at me, just goes to show.
You don’t yell to fight,
You yell to wake me in the night.
Your cries show me how much you care,
And doubting that, I would never dare.
