The name of our high-school literary-art magazine was chosen with careful consideration to the meaning. The name The Flame represents our magazine's philosophy: "Within each and every one of us burns a flame of creativity that can ignite things of wonder." We believe that every individual has a "flame" of creativity. It is our magazine's goal to showcase the best student writing from grades 9-12 for each school year, and if possible, to match each with a corresponding piece of art created by students as well.
Club members are students who are passionate about literary and artistic expression. Meetings are every month on the first and third Tuesday after school. If you are interested in being a staff member or contributor, click the "Join" button at the bottom of the page and submit your interest.
Editor-in-Chief
Hello, my name is Gabriella Cerra! I am a junior and serving this year as Editor-in-Chief of The Flame. Last year, I was an editor, and through my experience, I gained a deep care for The Flame and its purpose as well as a desire to expand it to what it once was and hopefully will become again. Creativity is a passion of mine, and I hope this year, I will be able to contribute to making The Flame brought back to the forefront at Jim Thorpe!
Student Photographer
Hello, my name is KaylaAnn Kandy. I am so excited to have the position of Student Photographer for The Flame. Being involved in so many other clubs has sparked my passion for photography. I love taking photos at events I attend, and because of this, my love for photo-taking is exactly why I am qualified for this position. I am so excited to see where this year of The Flame takes us!
Copy Editor
Hi, I'm Danielle Harris. I am currently in my sophomore year, this being my second year as a Flame contributor and first as Copy Editor. I am involved in The Flame, the school newspaper, FBLA, Science Club, SADD, and Scholastic Scrimmage. I enjoy writing, reading, and listening to music. My hopes for The Flame this year and in years to come are an increase in members/contributors, a variety of opportunities for those who contribute to The Flame in and outside of school, and for it to be a well-recognized club.
Social Media Coordinator
Hello! My name is Sophia Rogan. I'm The Flame's Social Media Coordinator this year, and this will be my second year contributing. Besides The Flame, I am also involved in FBLA and the Olympian Current. Alongside my passion for writing, I have a love for photography and the occasional painting. My ambitions for The Flame this year are to increase student activity and help branch out young writers to other promising opportunities through the club.
