TWO DAY E YANTRA WORKSHOP INAUGURATED AT ISLAMIA COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND COMMERCE

Inaugural session of the two-day faculty workshop on establishing e-Yantra labs in colleges of Kashmir Division was held today at Islamia College, Kashmir. The workshop is being organized by Higher Education Department under the e-Yantra initiative of the Higher Education Council, UT of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with IIT Bombay to build faculty capacity and enable the setting up of hands-on robotics and embedded-systems laboratories across colleges in the region.

The inaugural session was presided over by the Prof (Dr) Sheikh Aijaz Bashir,Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, UT of J&K.In his remarks the Director Colleges emphasized the importance of experiential and regional capacity building to prepare faculty and students for emerging technology fields. He also expressed the Higher Education Department’s commitment to support and monitor the progress of e yantra programs for achieving the desired outcomes.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Tehmina Yousuf, Principal of College, who highlighted the college’s role in hosting the workshop and lauded the collaboration between the Higher Education Department and the e‑Yantra initiative. Prof. Yousuf called upon participating faculty to leverage the workshop’s practical sessions to promote project-based learning and to catalyze student interest in robotics and embedded systems.

Mr. Bhavik Jain, expert from IIT Mumbai presented an overview of e yantra Initiative and introduced the concept and importance of e-Yantra laboratoriesin today’s technological world .

Faculty participants from fifteen colleges across the Kashmir Division will undergo hands-on training, demonstrations, and planning sessions over the next two days. Resource persons and trainers fromIIT Bombay shall conduct the technical sessions and guide participants through lab setup requirements, integration, project supervision, and student mentoring strategies to ensure sustainable e‑Yantra labs in their home institutions. The workshop is being co-ordinated  by the Department of Computer Applications.
