An Interactive Voter Awareness Program under SVEEP was held at Islamia College of Science & Commerce. It was an engaging initiative to educate young students about the importance and process of voting with the objective to increase voter turnout and promote informed citizenship by educating people about the voting process and their rights.
The program was conducted by College Debates & Seminar Committee and was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Tehmina Yousuf, Principal Islamia College of Science & Commerce. This was followed by short speech by Prof. Abdul Wahid, Coordinator SVEEP Elections 2024. Later technical session was conducted by Dr. Rizwana Nayer in which students interacted with each other and presented their perspective and emphasized on the importance of voting especially first-time voters. The session ended with the vote of thanks given by Prof. Uheedha, convenor College Debates & Seminar Committee
Key Features:
1. Organized interactive sessions with students to explain the voting process, electoral systems, and the impact of voting on governance.
2.Q&A Sessions: Provide a platform for students to ask questions and clarify doubts about voting, elections, and governance.
Benefits:
1. Increased Voter Turnout: Educated citizens are more likely to participate in elections.
2. Informed Decision-Making: Students make informed choices, rather than voting based on assumptions or biases.
3. Strengthened Democracy: Active citizen participation leads to a healthier democracy.
Conclusion:
Interactive Voter Awareness Programs are essential for promoting democratic participation, especially among first-time voters, youth, and marginalized communities. By making voting more accessible and understandable, we can strengthen our democracy and build a more engaged citizenry.
