ISLAMIA COLLEGE HOSTS RESEARCHER FROM INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE, BENGALURU, INDIA

Continuing with the series of events in the college, today a distinguished researcher Dr. Kasturi Saha  from Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India was hosted  by the  College to speak on the burning issues of Wildlife, Biodiversity its Conservation & thereby prompting students into critical thinking. PG Department of Zoology headed by Professor Javid Hussain welcomed Dr. Kasturi from Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India. The broader theme of the lecture focuses on bridging gaps between Science & Society. Professor (Dr) Tehmina Yousuf, Principal of the College commended the organizers and said that the purpose of such lectures is to encourage students to know about the global challenges and develop capacities aimed at problem resolution. She said that global issues demand global consensus and encouraging youth to develop a broader perspective. She added that, Islamia College is committed towards making an impact on society as far as Wildlife, Biodiversity its Conservation is concerned. Dr. Kasturi in her maiden power point presentation focused on relation between Science & Society by quoting findings of her research on Bat Signaling, Katydids, Prey-predator Interaction. She underscored the importance of sensibilities with scientific inquiry to foster a holistic approach to understanding and solving complex problems. Dr. Kasturi is currently working as a researcher consultant with wildlife Research Conservation, India. Prof. Sajad Sarvar moderated the Q/A session and emphasized the relevance of bringing experts from different corners of the country to speak on campus, enriching the academic environment in the college. Prof. Zahida Mehraj senor faculty from the department of Zoology said that such lectures not only brings together the brightest minds to discuss critical issues but also inspires our students and faculty to pursue excellence and innovation in their respective fields.
