Course Description:
Arabic 10 is offered at the A level (first language) and at the B level (second language). As per Ministry of Education expectations, it is compulsory for all students to attend Arabic classes.
Arabic A 10: This course consists of reading, writing, speaking, and listening and word study. During our study, students learn and use reading strategies that help them become effective readers. These strategies include predicting, questioning, making connections, inferring, visualizing, and synthesizing, as well as learning multiple strategies to help students monitor their reading comprehension. Students also learn to apply literary analysis skills as they actively read. Students are also exposed to multiple genres of writing including fiction, nonfiction, short stories, essays, Students use the writing process to compose and assess descriptive, persuasive, compare/contrast, journal and reflection pieces. Grammar, vocabulary, spelling and root word study are all infused in our exploration of effective reading and writing texts. Multiple opportunities to practice listening and speaking skills are given throughout the year.
Arabic B 10: This course aims to give students non Arabic speakers a basic knowledge of the language including a fairly wide range of vocabulary and basic structures. The course develops students' knowledge of the Arabic alphabet and the basic structure of the written form of standard modern Arabic, and aims to also develop all the fundamental language skills i.e. listening, reading, speaking and writing.
Students in this course will learn to:
1-Enhance their oral Communication in Arabic Language
2 -Talk about familiar topics using simple words.
3- Gain knowledge and understanding of Arabic speaking cultures and communities, and their own heritage.
