IPS seeks to provide all students with the opportunity to succeed and reach their post-secondary goals. We look at each student’s individual needs and circumstances to create the best possible plan given our course offerings.
Students will work with the counselors to outline their four-year high school pathway, and understand how their course selections are impacted by their university and career goals. They will receive information regarding their core and elective choices in class as well as individual presentations in grade 8, 9, 10, and 11. Grade 10 is an important year when students decide which diploma pathway suits their needs: full IB Diploma, partial IB, or the American Diploma Pathway courses. Therfore, IB information sessions will be arranged for grade 10 students in parallel with IB information sessions offered to Grade 10 parents.
Students will select one course option from the groups offered below in grades 11 & 12.
Students may request a course change within the first 10 school days by filling out a Change of Course Request Form. Grade 11 IB students may make a change from IB to the American Diploma pathway within the first 15 school days.
Submitting an official Change of Course Request Form does not guarantee the request will be made. Course change requests require parent, teacher and IB Coordinator approval (where necessary). Course changes depend on availability of seats in each class as well as teacher approval, IB Coordinator, and Principal approval where needed.
