Course Description:
Art and Design 12 is designed for students pursuing art as an elective. The course is presented to promote greater in depth study of specific areas of student strength. The course assumes a student’s visual arts literacy in the following four content areas: Artistic Perception, creative art process, art history, and art criticism. Art 11 course is performance-based with individual motivation and self-discipline expectations provided by the student in a studio setting. Close communication and criticism are mandatory between student and instructor. Students will create a portfolio of work (both originals and photographs), a series of journals, and assemble a show of their best works completed during the course for an exhibition at the end of the year. The course is divided into five essential units which are largely determined by the students research and interests, with guidance from the instructor.
