WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear IICS Families,
We would like to wish our entire community a Happy Fall Break. Please cherish the time with family and friends and if you will be travelling, be safe and enjoy.
We received information that large demonstrations could occur throughout Turkiye related to events in Israel and Gaza in the next few days. These demonstrations are expected to continue at diplomatic facilities, mosques, universities, and public squares. We highly advise our staff and families to use sound personal security measures, maintain situational awareness, minimize movements, and maintain a low public profile. Avoid large crowds and gatherings, as any gathering or demonstration, even those intended to be peaceful, could escalate and turn confrontational.
Stay safe, take care, and we look forward to seeing you on Monday, October 30, 2023.
Best wishes,
Nicolaas Mostert, Head of School
Please note that there will be NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, October 20, due to Professional Development Day for faculty and staff.
Last Friday, Oct 13th, we had a wonderful Facilities Master Planning workshop at the Marmara Campus with our parents. We thank you our parents who joined us on that day. We continue to be a forward thinking school, reimagining learning spaces for our educational community.
To celebrate the 100th year of Türkiye being a republic, IICS students decorated 100 red umbrellas. These will create a temporary art installation displayed across both campuses. Umbrellas will then be repurposed into usable campus umbrellas.
CEESA MS Tennis Champions!!!
Congratulations to our IICS MS Boys Tennis Team for winning the tennis tournament we hosted last weekend! Our boys won all their matches! Girls' first and second singles won 3rd place so this was a very successful event for our school, considering that this was the first time we competed in an MS tennis tournament.
Well done Dolphins!!!
In honor of Digital Citizenship Week, the IICS Tech and Guidance teams collaborated to offer to parents a workshop entitled "Digital Citizenship at Home." The Tech team focused on providing resources for parents about parental controls that can be enabled on devices. The Guidance team offered a variety of tips to parents for signs to watch out for and discussion starters.
Letterman Jacket Orders
Dear IICS Community,
The athletics and activities department is organizing letterman jacket orders again for all members of the IICS community since the colder weather is approaching. We have recently received interest from our students of different grade levels, parents, and staff members so we have decided to run one more round of orders.
The design and the materials are the same as last year and you can see it in the attachment, as well as the size descriptor that should help you choose the right size for you. One sample of the jacket can be seen outside the Dolphins Pod school store on the Marmara campus, where you can see the actual quality of the product.
Please put the name in the form that will be on the front, right-hand side of the jacket. It can be your first name, last name, or nickname.
* The cost per jacket is 1300TL! Payment and bank details will be communicated with those that place their orders.
* The delivery time is 45 days from the day we place the order for the school.
Due to the constant currency fluctuation we will have to run the process in the following 3 steps:
1. step - fill out the form.
2. step - pay for your order.
3. step - jackets ordered with up to 45 days delivery time.
Please fill out the form by Monday, October 23!
Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this process.
GO DOLPHINS!
Conversations about Recent Current World Events
No doubt we have all been impacted to some degree by the recent escalating conflict in Israel and Gaza. The effects are far-reaching, with images of the war being broadcast on TV and shared on social media. It's likely many of your kids have been following these events or have overheard conversations and are curious about the cause and impacts this war may have both globally and locally. Read more..

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Secondary Parents,
It's incredible to think that we've already reached the end of 8 weeks of the school year. Throughout this time, we've witnessed the remarkable work that our students have accomplished in their classes and activities. We are very proud of their achievements.
On Sunday, October 29th, the entire Turkish nation will come together to celebrate the 100th year of our host country's Republic. We've had the privilege of commemorating this historic occasion with a delightful event that involved all our students. They creatively decorated 100 red umbrellas with a "Republic of Turkey" theme, which you can see in the main entrance of both Hisar and Marmara Campuses.
As of this afternoon, we are embarking on a much-needed break. School will resume on Monday, October 30th. We extend our warmest wishes to all families for a healthy, enjoyable, and serene holiday. We look forward to the return of our students in just 10 days.
Here are some reminders and communications from various departments within our Secondary School:
