Powys County Council has created several guides for schools to make it easier for you to fulfil your duties under ALNET. We have also recorded demos for new staff which you can use during induction. Below, you can find links and descriptions to the various guides and training recordings that are at your disposal.
Tyfu User Guide
The Tyfu User Guide is a comprehensive guide on the Tyfu platform. It explains the different sections of Tyfu and gives a step-by-step explanation to basic functionality such as creating user accounts and submitting referrals.
Invitations to Tyfu User Guide
The Invitations to Tyfu User guide explains how to accept invitations to view a pupil's profile from the perspective of the invitee. It is recommended to send this to parents or professionals when they are invited to a profile on Tyfu.
School Guide to IDPs
This is a master guide to IDPs and contains all the information you need regarding IDPs, including sections on statutory timescales, how to complete the IDP on Tyfu, issuing the legal IDP, referring the IDP to the LA, transition, and ceasing the IDP.
School Guide to Duty to Decide
The School Guide to Duty to Decide explains how to record and fulfil the schools’ duties when a duty to decide arises, including what a duty to decide is.
PCC ALP Reasonableness Principles
This document sets out the reasonableness principles of ALPs and in what circumstances it would be unreasonable for schools to provide the ALP needed to support a pupil. This is an important document to refer to before referring an IDP to the LA.
School Guide on Referrals to the LA
The 'School Guide on Referrals' explains in which circumstances to make referrals to PIP and the possible actions and outcomes for the school and Local Authority. It contains 2 sections:
1: The Graduated Approach to Supporting Needs explains the 4 steps of a graduated response to need, what actions/interventions to try, the outcomes, and next steps. This includes steps that need to be taken before an authority referral is made.
2: Accessing LA Professional Advice gives further information on how to access LA professional advice and support.
