Learn to Solder

What is Soldering?

Soldering is a skill used to adjoin electronic parts, or components. All electronics from smartphones, TVs, computers, cars, planes, etc. have electronics that are soldered.

SAFETY FIRST!

Soldering irons are EXTREMELY HOT.

Safety is YOUR #1 priority!

  • Wear safety goggles

  • Move slowly and intentionally

  • Place iron in holder when not in use.

  • Turn off iron when finished.

  • Always wash hands after soldering

Learn About Soldering

Soldering is a useful skill for creating working electronics or to fix a broken device.

Why might I learn to solder?

Learning to solder opens new opportunities to the world of electronics. If you can solder a basic circuit you can make interesting projects. You might even save money by fixing things that weren't functioning or by salvaging parts from one device to another.

TIP: It's a good idea to learn to desolder (removing solder connections) when you first start. This way you can make errors without risking damaging parts needed to make something. See the playlist above to learn more about desoldering.
