Sharing Tinkercad Designs

Sharing your designs in Tinkercad is a great way to show others what you've made and get feedback to improve your designs.

PREPARE YOUR DESIGN

Step by Step

  1. Login to Tinkercad using your HKIS Google account


  1. Open your Dashboard and click on the project you want to share (don't click Tinker this)

3. Click the Options gear in the top right


4. Select Properties

EDIT DESIGN PROPERTIES

5. Edit the Design Properties to provide details for viewers

  • Name your project

  • Add a short description

  • Tag (optional) your project, this is helpful if you have multiple projects that are related or similar

  • Switch the Privacy to public

  • Leave License as Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 (CC-BY-SA 3.0)*

6. Click Save to update and close the Design Properties

* this is a Creative Commons license telling viewers that they are free to use your design as long as they give you credit (Attribution) and also share their designs derived from your design (Share Alike). Learn more about Creative Commons licenses for your work.

Embed Your Design

7. Click the Embed link below the Download button

8. Choose the size of the embed you want (560x350 is recommended)

9. Copy (command + c) the embed code

Add to Google Site

10. Find the page on your Google Site to embed your file.

11. Click the Insert tab in the right side bar

12. Select < > Embed

13. In the pop up window, click Embed code

14. Paste (command + v) the embed code into the field

15. Click Insert to add the embed to the page

PUBLISH

16. Publish your site by clicking the blue Publish button in the top of the Google Sites environment.

  • NOTE: you may need to click Publish twice if you have Review changes turned on

17. Be sure to visit your site to check how it appears

Share Your Webpage

To get the URL (web address) of your page, click the arrow next to Publish at the top right of Google Sites.

  • Select View published site and find your page

  • Copy the URL from your browsers address field

  • Share in an email, chat, or for your assignments
