To ensure employees are not overpaid and allow administrators to back-fill vacancies, it's critical that HR receives resignation letters as soon as possible.
Any employee intending to resign from HCPS must complete the Resignation Form.

Any employee intending to resign from HCPS must complete the Resignation Document.
If the resignation document cannot be completed by the employee, they should provide a written letter of resignation to their immediate supervisor.
The supervisor must forward the letter of resignation to HR in a timely manner.

Teachers and other licensed personnel are required to complete the resignation document no later than May 31. There will be instances when licensed personnel resign (request to be released from contract) after May 31. While this is discouraged, each case should be reviewed individually with the appropriate HR Specialist.
Prior to May 31 - A teacher intending to resign from HCPS must complete the Resignation Document.
After May 31 - A teacher requesting release from contract from HCPS must complete the Resignation Document making certain they cite the cause for their request. This will expedite the process.
The Human Resource Specialist will review the request and seek approval from the Chief Human Resources Officer as appropriate.
Teachers will be released from contract under the following conditions:
promotional opportunity with increased responsibilities
relocation greater than 50 miles
physical or mental impairment that prohibits the employee from fulfilling the essential functions of the position
*All other requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
