Ms. Fell’s journey as teacher thus far has been an unforgettable one. Though the path leading her to where she is now has been filled with unpredictable changes, there is no denying that it has all been worth it. Ms. Fell, a fourth year teacher who grew up in Richmond Hill, originally attended Toronto Metropolitan University (or TMU, formerly known as Ryerson), to begin her career as a dance choreographer and teacher.
Ms. Fell first choreographed for an arts program at Alexander Mackenzie High School, which was her initial introduction to teaching in a high school setting. This job sparked a passion in Ms. Fell, leading her to discover a new career: teaching.
After Ms. Fell’s decision to become a teacher, she attended York University’s Faculty of Education. Following her graduation, she began teaching at elementary and high schools in York, and eventually moved to work in Oakville. Last year, Ms. Fell worked at Oakville Trafalgar High School.

Ms. Fell teaches three subjects this year: Grade 10 Family Studies, Grade 12 Challenge and Change, and Grade 9 Food and Nutrition. Her favourite part of her work is the hands-on skills she teaches in all her classes, such as cooking, sewing, and interactive projects.
She also co-coaches TAB’s first dance team with Mme Rudge. They have two upcoming competitions in April and June. She is choreographing the Jazz routine called ”Look at Me,” which she describes as “a high energy jazz routine.”
“Dance Team is a great arts outlet for me because I used to teach at dance studios outside of school, but now I don’t have time. Being able to teach dance at Blakelock has been a great challenge and creative outlet for me,” she said about the team.

Ms. Fell’s experience at Blakelock so far has been a great one. “Working here has been so incredible,” she says. “I have amazing classes and have developed very positive relationships with students and staff.”
If Ms. Fell wasn't a teacher, she thinks she would either be a dance teacher or a personal secretary at a law firm, as she loves the organization aspect of the job and the scheduling.
When Ms. Fell has free time, she loves to go up to her cottage, take dance classes, read, and do calming activities such as paint by number. At the end of the day, she likes to work out to reset and relax.
The TAB community is fortunate to have her here as a teacher and coach for TAB’s dance team. We look forward to the rest of the year and the future with her at Blakelock!
