On Wednesday, December 6, the Grade 11 Marketing and Business Entrepreneurship classes ventured to the heart of Toronto to visit the Distillery District.
Coordinated by business teachers Mrs. Sian and Ms. Akbar, the two classes arrived at the Distillery District to take part in a guided tour, and learn about the history of the 19th century industry. The tour lasted about half an hour, in which TAB students and staff explored the old stone buildings and learned about the development of the Christmas Market in its peak season.

After the tour, the students experienced the Distillery District on their own time, exploring small businesses including gift and clothing shops, art galleries, and cafes. They could explore using a scavenger hunt, and grab snacks along the way. Students could also experience the Christmas market in all of its holiday cheer, taking pictures with snowmen, and the Dior tree.

“The trip to the Distillery District, Christmas Market was a great opportunity for our business students to meet with local entrepreneurs and experience marketing efforts from real businesses. The tour also provides a history of the development and challenges that arise in a real business of Gooderham & Worts,” Mrs Sian enthusiastically responded, when asked about this educational adventure.

Overall, the Distillery District trip was an exciting experience. It allowed business students to explore Canadian arts, historical business challenges, culture, and small businesses in a holiday atmosphere.
