Grade 10 business students have been working hard on their Winterfest project for the past few weeks. Ms. Sian and Mr. Stevens have created a way to educate students on how to run a business while also donating proceeds to charity and using a real life market to sell to.

On December 16th, students ran their small business in the cafeteria to sell as much product as they could. Some sold candy, while others hosted activities. The students worked very hard on their business, creating slogans, logos, posters, and more.
A student who was selling candy canes for the “Frosty Force” said, “This project gave us a great opportunity to feel what it’s like to run our own business, it was also really fun to make decorations and create new ideas.”
These services and goods included, but are not limited to, candy cane ring toss, fishing for ornaments, tattoos, hot chocolate, and candy grams. Selling these items and games was an amazing opportunity for the business students to learn entrepreneurship, as well as marketing and leadership skills.
Winterfest was enjoyed by many students during break on the Friday and it was a very social event with students from each grade and faculty joining in. On the following Monday, students voted for which charity they wanted their total donations to go towards. We hope to see Winterfest return next year, giving students a great opportunity to give back to our community.
