On Wednesday, November 16, the Healthcare SHSM (Specialist High Skills Major) students visited Niagara College.
The students toured the college while discovering the main attractions including The Shack café, where all profit is reinvested into the college and the main student commons.
In addition, they also visited the simulation lab where they were able to explore the mannequins and medical equipment for a glimpse into what it would be like to be a part of the Practical Nursing program. Students also learned about other programs, including the PSW (Personal Support Worker), RN (Registered Nurse) and Advanced Care Paramedic programs.

Pharmacy Technician Program
The Pharmacy Technician program is a 2 year diploma leading to career opportunities such as working in a hospital pharmacy. Visiting students were able to see the different storage areas and machines for packaging and labeling medications.
The students that are involved in the program are able to have hands-on experiences and practice their roles as pharmacists. Placements in pharmacies and hospitals also enhance their education and experience.
The SHSM students were able to learn and experience many facets of healthcare during the Niagara College field trip and hope to continue their learning.
