Parkinson’s Disease is a problem world wide. Parkinson's Disease (PD), is a disease that attacks the part of your brain called the cerebrum. It was investigated how the different stages of PD affected the brain’s function. It was hypothesized that if the stages progress, then the disease will affect the brain more and will hinder the ability to have a “normal” life. It was found that as the stages progressed, the cerebrum did not function properly, it progressively got worse. This leads to loss of mobility, speech, and balance. The majority of Parkinson's disease patients will have a degree of cognitive impairment, which may escalate over time. Individuals can experience forgetfulness, distractibility, weakening of executive functioning skills (problem solving, organizing, and multitasking), slower memory processing (recalling facts, learning new information), language and eye impairment, and other symptoms. Which is why, as the stages go further, the majority of patients need a caregiver at all times.
