The purpose of this project is to help bring a better understanding of how quickly the Earth’s natural aquifers are draining and how big of a role farming plays in affecting the irrigation usage in desert climates on the Earth’s fossil water supply. I researched aquifer water levels. This project centered around the hypothesis "The effect of pivoting different aquifers around the U.S., especially desert climates, and logged the data of how much water they contained along with how many farming plants and other impactors were around them. The Ogallala aquifer went down an average 14.23% in max capacity since 1980, and there are approximately 3,000 pivot irrigation systems on that aquifer. This project brought out the overall impact that pivot irrigation is having on aquifers and how long they have left. The purpose of this project is to help bring a better understanding of how quickly the Earth’s natural aquifers are draining and how big of a role farming plays in affecting the irrigation usage in desert climates on the Earth’s fossil water supply.
