The purpose of this experiment was to bring attention to the runoff pollution in the Chesapeake Bay and how it’s affecting aquatic life. People should care about this because it’s something that has been going on for a while and a majority of the runoff pollution can be fixed if people would pitch in and help out. The hypothesis I investigated was: if we can help clean up or stop the runoff pollution, then we can start to help the aquatic life that’s being affected by the runoff. My approach to investigating this problem was to research the major factors that are contributing to the runoff, and the aquatic life and other things that are being affected by the runoff pollution. After researching, I found the main contributing factors and how much they are affecting the Chesapeake Bay, septic 4.0%, Wastewater treatment 15.8%, Urban and Suburban 16.8%, Air pollution 18.8% and Agricultural Runoff 44.6%. At the end of this project I can infer that things like Urban and Suburban can easily be cleaned up and that can significantly help out and that a majority of these contributing factors can be prevented by the help of people who are willing to put in effort to help.
