Our Earth is slowly deteriorating, whether it’s from global warming or pollution, which are both caused by humans. If the amount of plastic made by major industrialized countries decreases, then the amount of pollution on our beaches will decrease because there won't be as many plastic products getting dumped into our oceans. Plastic is non biodegradable, but over time the plastic will break down into millions of tiny particles called microplastics. These tiny particles can be eaten by marine wildlife and humans. As a result of human pollution, we are harming ourselves by eventually consuming the plastic we dispose of. When researching where most of the plastic was coming from, the results were shocking and showed which countries need to start decreasing their plastic usage. 27.7% of the plastic in our oceans comes from China and 86% of China’s rivers are polluted, with the United States contributing 0.86% to our oceans and 0.95% of polluted watersheds. This problem needs to be resolved, but first we must understand how these problems are occurring and how we can spread the word about just how polluted our Earth has become.
