The investigation I’ve done focused on Monarch butterflies. Over the years, monarchs have slightly decreased. My guess is that the monarchs' habitats are being destroyed by humans or other fierce creatures causing them to be left without a place to live. It is important to focus on the habitats so that we are able to keep them from going extinct. My plan was if not everyone, then most people should plant milkweeds or other flowers that monarchs are attracted to so that the monarchs are able to have more than available habitats. Or, bring our focus on the monarch habitats and study them more so we are able to tell what is the reason that they are slightly decreasing. To test out what the monarch butterflies are really attracted to, different types of flowers were used, including milkweed, since that is what most monarchs are known to be attracted to. Then, a 10 minute timer was set to give them time to move around each flower, focusing on which three attract the monarchs. The purpose of this research helps better the understanding of who is destroying the environments: humans or other creatures. It also helps the understanding of monarchs and how we can better improve the habitats of these butterflies.
