The Effect of Weather on Amount of Squirrels Versus Birds In A Backyard Environment - Olivia

Abstract

During this investigation, it was researched how weather affects the amount of birds and squirrels in a backyard environment as well as their effects on one another. It was interesting to see what was going on in the backyard as well as be able to observe the relationship between the two animals that otherwise wouldn’t have been noticed. It was hypothesized that with the weather getting warmer during the spring, more birds and squirrels would be visible. A record was kept for fifteen days of the number of birds and squirrels seen each day as well as the weather conditions at the time at which it was recorded. On days when the weather was rainy or hot, the number of birds and squirrels was less than the number of birds and squirrels when it was sunny, cool, or cloudy. Overall, the amount of birds and squirrels did increase from start to finish, proving the hypothesis right and the numbers synced with each other, showing that there may be some correlation between bird and squirrel activity.During this investigation, it was researched how weather affects the amount of birds and squirrels in a backyard environment as well as their effects on one another.
