The Effect of Mating Season on the Behavior of Geese - Leah
During mating season, my project was to observe two geese for a week. Since there aren't many projects about geese or their mating season, I chose this as my project. I decided to educate the public and contribute to a better understanding of Canadian geese during their breeding season. For my procedure, I spent a week in Bath County, Virginia, where two geese visit every year for mating season. After that, I watched their actions and what they did for a week. I recorded my data for this project after I finished watching them everyday. My results weren't great because I ran into some minor issues once I started observing them, but I did get a couple of days' worth of good, solid data. They did, however, go swimming and wander around looking for food every day. Both morning and evening, they interacted by honking at each other and flying together. They would also go for daily walks in a big field.
