Maths
Term 1
In term 1, we had Ms. Brennan for Maths. We looked at Algebra. We did factorising using the quadratic formula. completion of the square and we also looked at another method of the array method. We also drew graphs to go with all of our answers. We also learned a fun fact that everyone shares a birthday with a mathematician, physicist or engineer. I discovered i had the same birthday as a British mathematical physicist and engineer, William Thomson. He invented the Kelvin water dropper and the compass. He was also the first british scientist to be elevated to the House of Lords. Here is a video we watched to help us use the quadratic formula.
Term 2
In term 2, for maths, we had Ms. Liston. The topic we looked at for the term was Coordinate Geometry. We completed questions on Parallel lines and Perpendicular lines. We looked at finding the midpoint of a line segment and the distance between two points. We had to find the slope of the line and figure out if the slope is positive or negative. And lastly we graphed all our answers on a coordinate plain. We used a website called 'GeoGebra' to graph our answers too. Here is an example of us using GeoGebra.
Term 3
In this term, we had Mr Rattigan as our teacher. We looked at algebra and sequences. We learned the different formulaes to use to solve a sequence and equation. We also looked at real life sequences where we had to make a powerpoint presentation. I did my presentation on medical sequences.
